IV International Kantele Competition, April 5-7, 2017

The IV international kantele competition will held in Kaustinen April 5-7, 2017. It is organised by the  Kantele Association and  Kantele Teachers’ Association in co-operation with Kaustinen commune, Kaustinen Folk Arts Centre and Folk Music Institute.

The competition categories are:

• Children’s event
• Youth/art
• Youth/folk/other
• Professional/art
• Professional/folk/other
• Open/other/ensambles
• Open/folk/ensambles
• Open/art

The head of the jury is Arja Kastinen (Doctor of Music). The panels for each category are:

Children’s event KanteleKimara & Open category (other music)

Senni Eskelinen, Sari Kauranen, Emma Kuntsi

Art music (Youth, Open and Professional categories)

Susanna Heinonen, Markus Luomala, Kristi Mühling (Estonia)

Youth category (folk music and other music), Open category (folk music) and Professional category (folk music and other music)

Anu Alviola, Arja Kastinen (head of the jury), Ville Ojanen

The final concert starts at 17.30 on Saturday and 16.00 on Sunday. Some groups from the competition will be chosen by the jury to perform at the final concerts.
